ABSTRACT

Orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry focused on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. Orthodontic interventions, including the implantation of archwires, not only improve esthetic outcomes but also enhance oral function and overall quality of life across all age groups. The oral cavity presents a unique and dynamic environment for studying the biological interactions between metallic dental appliances and surrounding tissues. Modern orthodontic archwires are fabricated from metallic alloys, selected for their mechanical properties, biocompatibility, and durability. These biomaterials, including stainless steel, nickel-titanium (NiTi), and beta-titanium alloys, are integral to the design of prosthetic and orthodontic devices, enabling controlled tooth movement through precise biomechanical forces
