Quantitative Estimation of Bacoside A in Polyherbal Memory Enhancer Syrup for Memory Boosting Activity Using HPTLC Method

ABSTRACT

A simple sensitive HPTLC method has been developed and validated for determination of bacoside A in the polyherbal memory enhancer syrup. The stationary phase was aluminum plate coated with (0.2 mm) silica gel 60 F254. The mobile phase used was etheylacetate : methanol : glacial acetic acid : tolune (3:4:3:1 v/v/v/v). The plate was scanned and quantified at 450 nm for bacoside A. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 1 - 10 ?g/ml with correlation coefficient 0.0998. Method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy, specificity and recovery study. The percent amount of bacoside A was found in syrup was 98.23. The proposed HPTLC method was found precise and can be further applied for the routine analysis of bacoside A. Keywords: Bacoside A, HPTLC, Memory enhancer syrup, Recovery study
